Our Graco My Ride 65 convertible car seat needed its cover washed after our son gagged himself and spit up in it so I wanted to remove it from our minivan.  For the life of me I could not get the Latch system belt tensioner to loosen so I could unhook the car seat from the seat latches.  Eventually I had to just press down on the car seat with all my weight to cause there to be enough slack to be able to unhook the latch hooks on one side.  The car seat is a 2011 model from the label so it’s probably out of warranty but I figured I’d contact Graco and see what they could do for me.  You can send them a message on their website here.

I filled out the form with my contact information, the model number off the sticker on the back of the carseat, and the serial number.

I told them that I couldn’t loosen the Latch tensioner, even when squeezing the button down with an adjustable wrench.  I then got this response:

Graco’s response to my inquiry

I requested a pre-paid shipping mailer and they are going to get me one here in 7-10 business days.  We have gone out and purchased a new car seat and I’m going to mail back the old one in the box this one came in.  It’s amazing how what you can get when you just ask.  When products don’t work the way I think they are supposed to I always contact the manufacturer and ask what they can do for me and I’m amazed at how often I get a repair or replacement at little or no cost to me.  Sometimes you have not because you ask not, but I always at least ask 🙂
